M – A manual system where automatic detection is not required
L1 – Highest level of coverage, with detection in every room (typically required in hotels and care homes).
L2 – Detection in all escape routes, rooms leading onto the escape routes and high-risk areas (often found in schools and office buildings).
L3 – Detection in all escape routes and rooms leading onto the escape routes.
L4 – Basic coverage along escape route with no coverage in rooms.
L5 – A system designed for buildings with unique risks covering certain areas only.
